One of the most important skills a student can learn is how to do research.This course teaches beginning research skills by leading the student through a series of basic research activities. The course begins by having him make observations and write simple reports on them. Next he learns how to find out information, using written references. In the final activities the student carries out simple research projects, making use of direct observation and written references. The student also learns to distinguish the value of different kinds of data (first-, second- and third-hand data) and he is taught the importance of accuracy and lack of bias as it relates to research.
