Movie making professionals have their own language. To understand movie making you need to know the language. This glossary has it all.

When talking about the motion picture industry[1] Hollywood is often the first word that comes to mind.  Hollywood is located in the city of Los Angeles, California, and during its heyday[2] was the location where most movies and television shows were filmed.  While Hollywood is still a major center for the film industry, today it competes with filming locations in cities, such as New York, Paris, Barcelona, London and Toronto. Nonetheless, “movies and Hollywood” are linked together as closely as “movies and popcorn.”

[1] motion picture industry: all the studios, production companies, film festivals, film distribution, screenwriters, actors, directors, film crew, etc. involved in making movies.

[2] heyday: period of a person’s or thing’s greatest success or popularity. The heyday of Hollywood was from the late1920s to the early 1960s, when movies were mostly filmed in Hollywood studios.
