Description
What makes a plant different from animals and non-living things? What are the parts of a plant and what do they do? Beginning Plants is an introduction to the world of seed plants (flowering plants and cone-bearing plants). The student learns the importance of the plant kingdom to people and how to grow plants from seeds. He also learns the basic structure of plants and how seed plants reproduce. Many hands-on activities are included, such as doing experiments to find out why plants need light, sprouting and eating alfalfa seedlings, and planting radish or bean seeds in containers and growing them into plants.
